| "La Reserva de la Biosfera Sierra La Laguna y las zonas aledañas en la Región del Cabo han sido reconocidas por su biodiversidad y la importancia que tienen para la conservación de aves migratorias y residentes. Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica sobre trabajos recientes de aves en la Región del Cabo y particularmente de la Sierra de La Laguna. Los trabajos específicos sobre las aves en estas áreas son escasos, algunos de ellos son tesis de posgrado. En diversos trabajos generales, taxonómicos y filogeográficos de esta región, se resalta la importancia del nivel de endemismo de este grupo, en la selva baja caducifolia y en el bosque de pino-encino. La riqueza avifaunística de la Reserva, de acuerdo a los reportes, se compone de más de 111 especies residentes y migratorias, de las cuales veinte se encuentran enlistadas en la NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010. En este capítulo se analiza el cumplimiento de objetivos de la Reserva en cuanto a la conservación y conocimiento de la avifauna, así como su pertinencia y los retos que enfrenta, para finalmente hacer recomendaciones para la conservación y manejo de este grupo. Si bien se requieren realizar numerosas acciones, es indiscutible la pertinencia de la Reserva y el importante papel de la misma en la conservación de las aves y de la biodiversidad en general de la Región, particularmente ante la acelerada destrucción y perturbación del ambiente que se ha dado por las diversas actividades humanas." "The Sierra La Laguna Biosphere Reserve and the surrounding areas in the Cape region have been recognized for their biodiversity and importance for the conservation of migratory and resident birds. We made a literature search of recent work on birds in the Cape region, and particularly of the Sierra La Laguna. The specific works on birds in these areas are scarce, with some of them graduate theses. Several general, taxonomic, and phylogeographic papers highlight the importance of the level of endemism of birds that inhabit the tropical dry forest and pine-oak forest of this region. The richness of the bird population in the reserve, according to reports, consists of over 111 resident and migratory species, of which twenty are listed in the NOM-059- SEMARNAT-2010. This chapter analyzes the fulfillment of the objectives of the Reserve in terms of the conservation and knowledge of birds, their relevance, and the challenges they face, to make recommendations for the conservation and management of this group. Though the recommendations require many actions to be made, the relevance of the Reserve and its important role in the conservation of birds and biodiversity in general in the region is indisputable, particularly with the present rapid destruction and disturbance of this environment that has been caused by several human activities." | |
